THUIS: The First Season of Frank

World Breakers Festival. Live Works Vol. 4. Centrale Fies. Dro, Italy. July 25-27, 2016. *premiere*

Boris Van den Eynden -- Primary artist, performer, and designer.

Kevin Doyle -- Dramaturgy, technical director, and co-director.

An installation-performance that takes 20+ years of TV Guide episode descriptions for the Belgian Dutch-language soap opera THUIS and compiles these brief descriptions into a single 400 page text. This phase of the project used computer algorithms to search for sentences that mentioned one character “Frank” by name. These sentences were then dramaturgically broken up and arranged into distinct sections. We then employed multiple audio and video delivery systems to “perform” those sentences.
