please, stand firmly

*in development*

Kevin Doyle -- artist.

"please, stand firmly" will be a site-specific sound installation for long-distance, moving walkways that transport travelers in airports. Rather than communicate flight announcements or shopping advertisements -- passengers will calmly receive random life instructions from the voice of a narrator along their journey. Ranging from the banal to the bizarre, these instructions will relate to both health concerns, personal relationships, and broader complex social, political, and environmental issues. For example, these instructions will involve guidelines on how to survive a genocide, how to survive a tsunami, how to be a better listener to your partner, how to avoid air sickness, how to lower your cholesterol, or how to practice safe sex -- but they all start at first from the basic, core premise of -- please, stand firmly.
