Kevin Doyle -- artist.

SPEECHES will be a series of films for public spaces and online applications, that asks Iraqi refugees and Syrian refugees to directly read into a camera and repeat verbatim, the actual original speeches by President Bush and President Obama delivered in 2003 and 2012 (respectively) about these two Presidents military actions in the refugees' home countries. Each recreated filmed speech would be followed by long-form interviews with each Iraqi and Syrian refugee that communicates their story in detail.

The goal of SPEECHES is to subvert the original context and meaning of speeches delivered by President Bush and President Obama -- and demonstrate in real-time via collage, juxtaposition, and editing -- how the bold pronouncements from American Presidents did not deliver the intended hope, but rather the polar oppositefor the residents of Iraq and Syria.
